“have+宾语+现在分词”的六种用法
用法一:表示使(让)某人(某事物)一直在做某事或处于做某事的状态之中。如:
He had the light burning all night. 他让灯亮了一整夜。
He had me doing all kinds of jobs for her. 他叫我为她做各种事情。
To have hundreds of homeless people sleeping in the streets of a rich city like London is a crime. 伦敦这样富裕的城市还有数以百计无家可归的人睡在大街上是一种罪过。
用法二:表示开始做起某事来。如:
The kids soon had him climbing the walls. 孩子们不久就搞得他心烦意乱。
Her infectious laughter had everyone smiling. 她的笑声很有感染力,每个人都笑了。
The comedian soon had them rolling in the aisles. 那滑稽演员很快就逗得他们捧腹大笑。
Some of the hairpin bends had Ruth clinging to her seat. 驶过一些急转弯时,露丝紧紧抓着位。
用法三:表示经过一段时间达到的效果。如:
We’ll soon have your car going. 我们很快会让你的汽车跑起来。
I’ll have you speaking English in six months. 我要你六个月内就开口讲英语。
用法四:表示容忍或允许某人做某事(用于否定句,尤与 won’t, can’t连用)。如:
He won’t have boys arriving late. 他不允许孩子们迟到。
I won’t have you smoking at your age. 我不能让你在这个年纪就抽烟。
用法五:表示说服或命令某人做某事。如:
He had me doing all kinds of jobs for her. 他叫我为她做各种事情。
Bronwen tried to have her talking. But no use. 布朗温设法让她讲话,但没成功。
用法六:表示遭遇令句子主语不愉快的事。如:
If you give all-night parties you’ll have the neighbours complaining. 你如果举办通宵晚会,会搞得邻居们都抱怨你的。
If you don’t put a fence round your garden you’ll have people walking in and stealing your fruit. 如果你不把你的果园用篱笆围起来,人们会走进来偷摘果子。
