both of的后面跟复数，因为both表示“两者都，即……又……，而且”，因此在使用both的时候，句子中被形容的名词应该使用复数形式。both可以单独使用，后面可以直接接名词或动词，但是如果名词前面有限定词修饰，就必须用both of。
