用作宾语用who还是whom
从理论上说,who 与 whom均表示“谁”,均只用于人,其中who为主格,用作主语;whom为宾格,用作宾格。但事实上,在日常生活中人们很少使用whom,一般都用who代替之。如:
Whom [Who] are you writing to? 你在给谁写信?
Whom [Who] do you like best? 你最喜欢谁?
若是紧跟在介词之后用作宾语,则只能用 whom,但这类表达通常只见于较正式的文体中。如。
但是,紧跟在介词后时只能whom,不过这种用法过于庄重,仅用于书语。如:
With whom did you go? 你跟谁一起去的?
To whom you give the money? 你把钱给了谁?
He sided with me about whom to vote for. 他支持我投票所选的人。
用作关系代词引导定语从句时,情况也是如此。如:
There were hundreds of protestors, not a few of whom were women. 有数百名抗议者,其中相当一部分为妇女。
You find yourself married to someone with whom you’re not compatible. 你突然意识到自己和一个合不来的人结了婚。
Sundry distant relatives, most of whom I hardly recognized, turned up for my brother’s wedding. 远房亲戚都来参加我哥哥的婚礼,他们大多数我都不太认识。
